E-COMITIA

The e-Comitia election manager is an online voting platform that helps you manage elections, assemblies and board meetings with full technological guarantees of security and confidentiality.

The eCOMITIA product, version 2.0, by ARES S. COOP. has obtained the ISO/IEC 25000 certification for Functional Suitability. The certificate was issued by AENOR based on the evaluation carried out by the accredited AQCLab laboratory.

e-COMITIA is ready to be used from any device with an internet connection. Its design adapts to screen size to provide the best user experience for both administrators and voters.

Election processes are hosted in a secure, high-availability data centre located in Spain.
No software installation or maintenance is required. Backups are automated using up-to-date technologies.

Voting process. Remote authentication

When a person selects their vote, e-Comitia verifies the validity of the entered NIF/NIE and checks that the voter belongs to the relevant register and has not already voted in that election.

From that point on, and while the voting period remains open, the person may identify themselves in two possible ways. Electronic signature: e-Comitia checks in real time the validity, expiry and revocation status of the signature and verifies that the NIF/NIE matches the selected certificate. SMS code: the person can request an identification code by SMS. e-Comitia validates the NIF/NIE against the selected register and sends a random code to the mobile phone recorded in that register. This code, valid for a few minutes together with the NIF/NIE, is then used by the application to identify the voter.

Vote Audit. Security

The system supports in-person voting and identifies it to prevent duplicate voting. Each time a vote is cast, the server encrypts and stores it in the digital ballot box, generates a PDF certificate containing a code that represents the vote, and signs it with an organisational seal issued by the FNMT together with a time stamp stored in the certificate.

The FNMT seal certifies the exact moment the vote was cast and guarantees that it cannot be tampered with or replaced. During counting, the system verifies the issued time stamp, checks the voting time and compares the code stored in the PDF with the code stored in the digital ballot box and in the voter action record. Once the vote has been cast, the user can download the certificate. Vote auditing, both by the voter and by the auditor, guarantees that the vote has not been altered or substituted.
